Individual Counselling in Sheffield
When life feels crowded—worry, low mood, overthinking or grief—individual counselling offers a calm, confidential space to steady yourself and work things through at your pace. I’m Hazel Hill, an integrative counsellor in Sheffield (S7). Together we’ll make sense of what’s going on and find next steps that fit your life.
Is individual counselling right for me?
You don’t need a diagnosis or a neat story. Bring as much—or as little—as you can. We’ll start from there. People come to see me for many reasons, including:
- Anxiety, persistent stress or burnout
- Low mood, loss of motivation, self-criticism
- Grief and bereavement (recent or long ago)
- Relationship difficulties, family dynamics or loneliness
- Life changes: fertility/menopause, parenting, caring, retirement, health issues
- Past experiences that still echo in the present
My approach (integrative, relational, practical)
I combine person-centred values (warmth, honesty, deep respect) with a pluralistic, integrative way of working. That means we tailor sessions to you. Some weeks are reflective; other weeks are more structured, with down-to-earth tools such as:
- Grounding and breath practices to settle the nervous system
- Mapping worry/avoidance cycles and gentle experiments between sessions
- Sleep and pacing routines that support energy and mood
- Self-compassion practices to soften a harsh inner critic
- Simple boundary language for tricky conversations
- Creative tools when helpful (writing, imagery, small prompts)
The relationship is central. Many people haven’t had the experience of being met, heard and not hurried. When that happens, change often follows.

Confidentiality & ethics
Your privacy matters. I follow professional ethical standards and discuss confidentiality clearly at the outset, including any legal limits. We’ll move at your pace and check in often so therapy feels safe and useful.
If work is part of the picture
Many Sheffield clients juggle demanding roles (NHS, education, small business, tech, caring). If workplace stress is relevant, we can focus on sustainable steps—pacing, boundaries, communication—without adding to your to-do list.

FAQs
Do I need to know what to talk about?
No. Many people start with “I don’t know where to begin.” We’ll go gently and find a starting point together.
How many sessions will I need?
Some people feel benefit within 6–8 sessions; others prefer longer-term work. We’ll review together and decide what’s right for you.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. I’ll explain confidentiality and its few legal limits clearly in our first meeting.
Do you offer evening appointments?
A small number—please ask about current availability.
