Hazel Hill

After a long career in the humanitarian sector, I began my counselling training in 2003 and hold a BACP accredited Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling.  In the last 18 years I have provided counselling and psychotherapy for counselling charities, the NHS, insurance companies and Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP).

In 2007 I set up my own private practice (Counselling in your Community) and continue to help clients within Sheffield and the surrounding area. In 2013 I trained to deliver online counselling and e-therapy and I am now certified to offer therapy through email, skype and instant messaging. I also hold a certificate in Supervision and offer supervision to Sheffield counsellors and nationwide via Skype.

I have a background of working with bereavement and loss in particular sudden death through road traffic accidents which can lead to more complex and prolonged grieving, as well as bereavement through terminal illnesses.

I also have a particular interest in post-natal depression and women’s emotional well being. In addition, I have experience in helping employees with work stress and bullying and travels to their place of work.

I am a psoriasis suffer which enables me to offer empathetic non-judgemental help for those who need help in improving their mental health and thoughts around psoriasis.

As an ex-aid worker, I have a living knowledge of cross-cultural and post traumatic stress disorders, as well as a deep understanding of the joys and challenges that can be experienced when making a conscious decision to live overseas. I have over 10 years experience in Africa, East Timor and Eastern Europe, working with small communities.

I am fully insured and I am a BACP Senior Accredited member (045039) of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I regularly undertakes on-going training in Sheffield and beyond to maintain and continually enhance my knowledge and skills with reference to the latest research in this area.

In conjunction with these activities I regularly attend counselling supervision with an experienced supervisor, in compliance with the BACP ethical framework for good practice.

I have been a trustee of Share Psychotherapy based in Sheffield and was previously a trustee for Sheffield Woman Counselling and Therapy Service and RedR International.

In the past, I taught counselling at Dearne Valley college and I have taught Counselling to Diploma students and level 3 at Sheffield College.
